The feeders are up in Prospect Park and they are attracting all the expected little winter birds--nuthatches, chickadees, finches, titmice. Frankly, watching the birds flit on & off the feeders, while entertaining, feels like cheating. Stand there for a few minutes and boom--you've got 10 species of birds.
Today's jaunt took me from the 15th Street entrance, to the pools, along Rocky Pass, the Nethermead, the Lily Pond, behind the Boathouse, along the Lullwater, to the feeders, over the Terrace Bridge, to the Wellhouse, around the lake, up a dirt path on Breeze Hill, the feeders again, retracing my way along the Lullwater, Boathouse, etc, briefly into The Ravine, a quick look at the Sparrow Bowl, back to the pools then out on 9th Street and PPW. (Not as far as it sounds.)
