Puerto Morelos: Leaning Lighthouse with Shari & Frigatebird

Last week, Shari & I traveled to Puerto Morelos, a little town just south of Cancun, to celebrate what our friends Rick & Caroline were calling "The Big Six Oh." They both turned 60 within a few days of each other, so they decided to throw a bash like something out of Living Well is The Best Revenge. They invited 25 or so friends or relatives to stay with them where they have their vacation home, in Villas Silvia, renting the neighboring homes for a week's stay.

So this was a rare non-birding trip for us. Except for one excursion to Sian Ka'an that Rick arranged for a group of us, the birds we picked up were found casually--either walking around the little town, walking the beach, or simply just sitting by the pool. With that consideration, 24 life birds and a whole slew of year birds seems pretty good.
