We went to Cape May, hit Brig 3 times, showed Sue around the birding spots down here, and traveled to central Jersey to get the Greater White-fronted Goose. Another highlight was at the Avalon Seawatch where we found the drake King Eider. Looking back, we were really stupid to climb on the sea wall. Yesterday a woman broke her leg there. I guess that's why there are signs all over the place warning DON'T CLIMB ON THESE ROCKS MORON!
Two disappointments this month were missing the Painted Bunting in Cape May and the Sandhill Cranes in Somerset. The latter galls the most, since everyone was seeing them before we went there and everyone has been seeing them since.
It was also a little sad birding Prospect Park for the final time as a resident of that borough. I get a twinge of envy every time Peter tweets a rarity in the park.
